Brown Thrasher

Brown Thrasher

We would regularly hear a melodious bird in our backyard bushes but couldn't see it. One day, when I got this photo, it had flown to the top of a bougainvillea, and sang and sang. That's when I identified it as a Brown Thrasher, a bird noted for singing more than 1,100 different song types that include imitations of other birds. They are said to be aggressive defenders of their nest and known to strike people and dogs hard enough to draw blood.
